What Campers Can Expect From RAF
Connection. All-camp zooms throughout the year to stay connected. New campers must find a way to participate as best they can, especially
May-August.
Shade structure and kitchen. The Build crew sets up a large shade structure to pitch your tent under. You have a 10’x10’ space to call your own.
The kitchen includes basic cookware, oil, S&P, sweeteners, cook stoves and a dish washing setup.
Water. Unless you leave the spigot open, we have plenty of fresh water along with grey water removal. We do not have a shower setup.
Dinner together. We offer a communal dinner at 6pm most nights. Attendance is not required but it’s a relaxing way to move from day to night. Vegetarian and other dietary needs are accommodated as best we can. You will be responsible for all your other meals.
Playtime. Plenty of opportunities to explore BRC, wander the Playa, and radically express yourself!
What RAF Expects From Campers
Basic Self-Reliance. Visit the Burning Man website at www.burningman.org. Click on “About Us” and read about the 10 Principles that constitute Burning Man. Bring your own tent, sleeping bag, and food, and be able to care well for yourself.
Staying Alive. On the Burning Man website, click on “Black Rock City” and find Preparation Resources. Download and read the Survival Guide.
Take it seriously.
Reliability. Everyone will sign up for their job slots before Burn week. We help one another learn and get stuff done, but you are expected to show
up and follow through.
Program support. Campers who identify as Christian are invited to support our programs by leadership or presence. Core programs are Morning Devotions, Coffee & Confession, Ash Wednesday and Friday Memorial services at the Temple.
Camp life support. Help build our camp a few days before Burn week. Kitchen help. Setup program spaces, manage compost and recycling, MOOP.
Strike. We must leave no trace at the end of the week! Strike begiins Saturday in preparation for Monday Exodus. With few exceptions, everyone is expected to pitch in as able.
Play well with others. Hang out together, be friendly, share snacks, invite other campers on adventures.
